Our Club
During 1935 and 1936, the first lawn bowling green in Santiago Park was constructed with funding from the Work Projects Administration (WPA) program under the leadership of the City of Santa Ana Park Manager Dale Griggs.
The Santa Ana Lawn Bowling Club in Santiago Park began bowling on the Green in 1938 and has continuously bowled at the location for the past 88 years.
Popularity of the sport created a need for the second “green” which was constructed in 1952.
In 1954 a structure acquired from the Army Air Base in Costa Mesa and served as a clubhouse for 34 years. The current facility was dedicated on Jan 26, 1991.
The Santa Ana Lawn Bowling Club maintains a contract with the City of Santa Ana Parks and Recreation Department to use the lawn bowling greens and part of the lower floor of the building for our lawn bowling activities.
It is through this partnership with Santa Ana Parks and Recreation that our club offers a place for people of the community to come together to socialize, meet new friends, and enjoy the beauty of Santiago Park while lawn bowling.
The Santa Ana Lawn Bowling Club is organized as a Not for Profit 501 c 7 mutual benefit club that exists for our members to enjoy lawn bowling, socializing, meeting new friends and enjoying the beauty of the Park.
